What is that password, again?

Having joined the technical world and started to shop on line; etc., I think newcomers should know that it is very easy to become a part of this new generation. You can purchase a computer, take classes and bam, you are right out there with every one else. But then, you start to branch out...which is all wonderful and good and you can go forever, but each website basically has its own identifying system. Think of it as your name and phone number type thing when you use to order from Penny's catalogue by phone. You gave them your phone number and all the pertinent info popped up on their computers. At most sites you can use your e-mail address. then a password that you shouldn't share with ANYONE... Some sites require using numbers and letters in the password; some are case sensitive (if you use a Capital Letter the first time, you must use it everytime or it won't let you enter....) Some sites require only 6 digits, some 8, some don't care.
Being forgetful at times, I basically use the same for every account possible. Or at least I try to.
BUT: some sites don't say "What is your user name"? they ask it in some stupid way and you don't answer correctly---so Instead of Anny628, I have one Woody628...... Now these items are on every account know to man---and some request other than your user I.d. My bank requires my social security number and password.....
So amazon.com, Sears.com, Verizon.com, diynetwork.com, airlines, etc. are all accessible with these little codes. For the most part I feel safe using the sites and ordering, etc. (I love ordering airline tickets because you get to see which seat you are picking). Small pleasures.
Early last spring, Jan was sick (seems like she has been sick alot this year), and I stepped in and sent the kids all Webkinz animals for Easter. They have access codes, and birthcertificates one prints out. (I put my user id and password on Montana 's birthcertificate.) These are pets that one can access online and buy them houses, furnitures clothes, games and everything else your heart desires. (but that is another story). After visiting Eddie and her children, I mentioned I would play games on the kids webkinz site IF I was allowed their name and code. No problem. Did the same for the MT kids. I just play games, I don't do anything else...Okay, I did keep putting sunglasses on Katie's Peanut, but it was just one of those things that had to be done. In May I received my very own Webkinz cat, Montana.. I played and played and played, Fed him daily, exercised him etc. Then all of a sudden I had 20,000 webkinz points ---I sent gifts to the kids, and then went back to playing on their web sites. And to be fair, you know that is my middle name, I played at each site until I had 10,000 webkinz points on the site and then moved to the next one. Now this may take several days on each. But did it as time allows.
In the meantime, at work----and my point is----every thing at work also has a different user id and number. Some you have to change every two months.;; just to access the internet; then we also have our PERF accounts, again totally different; then we have our employee benefits accounts---and finally someone got smart and while they don't have the same user id, they do have the same password. (Guess if you call enough they eventually figure this out) We just went through open enrollment; and the great state of Indiana decided that if you wanted the same health plan as you had last year, too bad, you still had to go on line, register, then print out what you chose and send a copy, again, to personnel, and sign the non-smoking thing again. (The One-Street Care is another work related site that pays us for not smoking and recognizing our health problems, but requires a whole new set of user id's and passwords. I figured for $380 dollars a year, I would participate---that is what they pay you.)
I have a little notebook at home I try to keep all the user id's and passwords in...... I keep my work ones at home also....
The past couple weeks I have been building up Katie's, Avery and Cameron's account---(sorry i can't get on Sarah's account). So I finally got over the 10,000 mark on them and decided I would go "visit" Montana and see what is at the Webkinz Academy.
Except i can't get on because I can't remember my password.

We are finally back home. Or almost

The powers that be finally have let us (Nursing Administration) return home---which is designated as Pyle Basement. It is so nice to be home!!!! There were a few changes and I think that will all work out fine. As soon as I can find my desk---it is very loaded. But Kathy's office is looking very good. And I am sure she didn't really mean to knock the "boss's day " plant that I got her off the top of the desk. But she has decided that the silk philo trees look especially nice in her office. So I will repot the BD plant and put it in my office---probably switch it out with a much nicer , larger one just to confuse her....but that will be awhile.

While moving an office (actually two in my case) sounds so simple but unfortunately, a.) we didn't take all our furniture because it wouldn't have fit and b.) because there was some furniture there. But we did get five offices of new (to us) furniture and that was interesting to get them together. Most of us moved our own "boxes of stuff" . We did have alot of furniture "tagged" telling the movers where it was to go. But it was confusing to us, let alone outsiders. The locks were moved for the offices; we brought our phones and the lines were made hot. Then we were asked to bring our computers (in previous years we weren't allowed to move them...) Most did play very nice.

Of course, Mrs Klutz here rammed a "cart" up on the back of her ankle just for fun and games. But the move went on.

So we were getting things going fairly well.....when the lady in medical records asked when we were moving those files. Kathy just looked at me and I said I would go......What we thought was a couple hours job is an all day event. I knew moving the actives files was a challenge but remember each resident has a chart in there and we have 220 residents.....some have 2-3 charts.... The movers said they would come back to do that. So it will be inconvenient for medical records for a few days. ---no big deal except the clerical person left for two weeks vacation starting 11/6 ; the records administrator isn't ----I don't know how to say it nicely, but she has to take too many medications to make it thru the day. Not Stable Mable. Nice person, but .....

About 4:00, I was helping the infection control lady put the computer, etc wires under her desk...she was lifting, I was on the floor...when it was decided that since the supervisors office in Mitchell probably didn't have a lock, we should move as much as we possibly could...now.

So we each grab a cart (these are about 3' wide and 5 foot long with handles very hard to control. ) and stroll over to Mitchell. Buildings are in the shape of a huge horseshoe.,......Pyle building at the very bottom; Dehart-where we came from at the top of one side and you guessed it, Mitchell is at the very top of the other side. Oh, well, it was a change of scenery...Just for the record, one can go from building to building thru hallways, etc.

We found out there was a lock on the door---the fact files (personnel type files) were under another lock and key. So we just took what was needed----which is a considerable amount.

The agency staff come to this office to sign in and get their assignaments, the regular staff know where they are going, but there are "floats", but this office also keeps track of who is sick, on vacation, etc....and just the general staffing. So we get it all back over to Pyle before any major collapsing. So are we done? Partly. We had stuff stored in the medi station---which was moved to Pyle also; but I don't have storage like I did before, so that may be interesting; I have three linen carts in Dehart that have to come over....this too is storage. I have gone thru part of it...If I was really smart I would work Tuesday (Election Day) and take it some other time.

But that is n't me. We still have to locate some large tables...that were put in storage...

Kathy saw me and said there is aproblem with the fax. "Paul, Anny is here". When Kathy does that she has just about reached her limit and I take over. Seems they wanted to put MY fax machine in the "copier/communications office." Fine, I have no problem with that. We do wish to hook up the copier as our fax, but i mentioned that would be at a later date. No one had any desire to argue with me.

So while there is still alot to do, we will have our Wednesday, 1:15 Managers meeting in the new conference room; Kathy's office looks good. And we are kinda at the end of the hall so it should be quieter....Oh, yes, the DON, and ADON's now have their designated parking spaces back!!!! So we no longer have to hike to work......When the adon's and don aren't there I get to park in their places!!!! And once one gets in the building it is a piece of cake to get to our offices. I could even skate board that distance (very short).

Yes it is kinda an ordeal, but we are so glad to be back in civilization with the gift shop and the snack bar (which opens the 5th) just on the first floor of Pyle and not 3 miles away. And the Post office and the administrative offices and the supply room and the switchboard!!! Yep, life is good.

I have a boringer life than Jan and I am just fine with that.

It has been very busy around here. Boy, for someone who does nothing!!!! Bam! September has come and is almost gone... Having Jan here for two weeks was wonderful and don't tell her how much I have missed her. Nobody does the laundry, or gets my car washed....or swept out...
We had a lot of fun in spite of the circumstances. She says she had to leave, but I just don't think she could take the excitement any more....
So I went ahead and had the garage sale...Did fine!!! Then we had the cousins's reunion at Turkey Run; supper on Saturday night and carry in on Sunday noon. It was great. AS we were sitting after dinner and sampling all the sweets (everyone brought a dessert, Duh). A cousin's son (he had to drive her there) made the comment that he didn't care for desserts. I knew then he wasn't a Millikin----everyone else was saying next year , skip the salads and the chicken.!!
I made a "Poodle Skirt" for "50's day. I was the only person in the whole place who dressed for it.
Had the second jewelry party for a friend. Did very well. So I get some surprises which I will mail out....
Then I had play group here Friday night. Geez; I was so worn out. I slept soundly until 8; Larry left to go clean (and I let him) but I did get up and dressed and to Curves for the first time in several months. Let's just say I needed it. Then it was nap time!!!! Slept hard for 2 .5 hours!!! I may do something tomorrow.
Larry had shingles beginning a day or two before Jan left. Coincidence? i don't think so. Fortunately he didn't let it go too long===----he had a sinus infection and that is really why he went to Dr., but he is much better and healed. Hopefully he won't have them for another 25 years.
Derek arrives in town Thursday. Sure do miss both him and Trev. Always glad to hear from them when they call....
It is getting late...and I need more rest. Hard to beleive, but it is true.
Good night again, my friend.

Would someone explain why in the last 6 months I have food stains on almost all my clothes....and I really like to eat that much.
Thanks to friends, I got them out before going to this afternoon's meeting.
Derek informed me that if WE got 140,000 more points on my capital one card, WE could get a Xbox 360. He has a budget of $40,000 for Penn's expenses so If I just spend $30,000 on the card we could get one. WE could share it, too. He would keep it at his house and I could play anytime I wanted too. (I can see Larry grabbing his heart right now)... Derek is just a hoot.
Had Lunch with Jana and Jackie today. They crack me up.... The hour just flies by and I can't believe it is time to go back to work.
Just to keep the record straight, It is Max Roy;
And In all my years of driving I have had only one speeding ticket; my mother never got any. Ask Jan how many she has gotten.???? Hmmmm
Obviously not much is going on here. We found out today that the maintenance department has just finished painting Pyle building......with Latex paint. We have to be latex free....due to allergies... I am thinking that after it dries it doesn't matter. But I don't know that.....
Maybe we will move the end of September.

Vacation?

Since vacation plans had changed, I decided to take a couple days off--lets face it, one can only take it so long and then the surveyors had been there a week; I wanted out. I did offer to stay since surveyors were coming back, but Kathy insisted I go ahead. Ha HA (Then I find out that they stayed Wed and Thurs. Oh well....
I have worked in the garage most of this time off. Today I finished painting the ceiling and put the primer on the "walls" that couldn't be reached before. Larry had picked up an extension/applicance cord so when I got home last night I just had to put it in...well, I moved the cupboards a little and the center shelves moved-and a gal of mineral spirits landed on my left foot. At least it al most matches the right foot. So I moved on to the next thing on my list...
I moved everything to the other side; placing the garage sale stuff clear in the back and leaving access to all the tools. How is that for planning......
Swept the floor and after I finished as much painting as I could do today; I poured vinegar and baking soda on the floor. to Soak.
I really felt like i got alot done, but as always ---more to do. Used what little paint was left in the spray can for the swing.----need more.
Larry got upset with me because I tried to tell him the level was laying there---not in something and he couldn't find it. I walked over and found it right away. Of course that wasn't where I had said.....But he doesn't like it when I just ask him to move and I will get the tool---no just tell me. You got it---no win...Trying to avoid them, but impossible working in the garage which may be part of the reason I want to get it DONE. NOW.
While I was spraying the swing, he decided he would just go clean the one offices!!!!
Larry had found a slip cover for the small recliner--at Dollar store---but it didn't fit. I am going to put it in the garage sale. He doesn't like it or the cover that is on it. He returned it last night. Then he had picked up a small venetian blind for the garage...But forgot the size, got a 36" instead of 45". He asked me why I didn't see it was the wrong size. (I never looked at it.)
Saturday Lynne and I are going to Indy. I am looking forward to relaxing---haven't been sleeping well. Don't need anything. Just going to get out a little. Something different. The list is shrinking. Have a busy week next week---Tuesday-Home Ec. Carry in; Wed night is Managers' Birthday dinner and Kathy suggested invited the new Superintendent and his wife (going to T.G.I Fridays) which is my favorite. Then Friday Play group is going to Ann's just south of Covington, on 63 near Perrysville.
Larry is due back and I am going to fix just a couple of hamburgers...Chips and a veggie.
I am tired.

It is August; It is Summer and It is Indiana

So there may be a little heat and a little humidity. Why is everyone always so surprised that we have this weather.????? Happens pretty much every year.... Are these the same people who complain about how cold it gets??? Duh. Can't really speak for other states as I have never lived in another state, but geez, if you don't like the weather, just stick around, it will change.
Now that I have that off my chest, I feel better... Long two weeks at work. Possible HIPAA violation-- so I was appointed "in charge" and we went thru records trying to find addresses of next of kin of 299 deceased residents (there were 30 who transferred away and about 30 who were still residents in addition to the 299). To find addresses we had to look in storage boxes for 98, 99,00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, ....Each year has approximately 50 boxes and of course each resident has more than one "chart" so that resident's information that is suspose to be in box 39, may also to be box 38, and 40. Three ladies would search the boxes and find addresses while I wrote them down. Then a volunteer and I would wrestle those boxes back into storage. Took us 2 1/2 days. Then the fun began. Lets just say I was volunteered to get the letters out--so I learned to merge and put all those addresses in the data file. Even printed the letters. The bad news? Sent them to be signed and the letter (which I had nothing to do with) had a wrong middle initial. The person from the department of health screwed up. So Life was lovely and the lady who was to check for typos had just started when the dept of Health walked in for their annual survey. This means they give us a list of different items they want to see. Ranging from our Director of Nursing's RN license to a list of residents on dialysis to policies and procedures. They also request a list of the licensed beds and where they are located. Normally this is the administrator's secretary's job, but she is new and so I put it together and I might add, I was very close to being correct. But Kathy reviewed it and we got it straightened out and she even showed me where to get the info. We got it all together and now we just wait for them to see what else they would like to see. So I started reprinting my letters with the right middle initial of our superintendent. Tomorrow I am going to learn to print merged envelopes.!!! The excitement just doesn't end.
Derek called while on the road. Asked if I had ever been to Bakersfield. I said I thought that was where Roy Rogers museum was.... And if so, I had been through there only. He thought it looked like Indiana only all brown,. Told him it was real close to IN as we hadn't had much rain.
H e said he will be taking pictures on the way home on Friday---coming down the Pacific Highway.
Larry is putting in an outdoor outlet on the porch. Yes, in 90+ heat and I got to help. I want to curl up and nap, but I did go help and found something long enough to go thru the wall.....to make a hole in the siding from the inside.... Hopefully it will cool off this weekend so we can paint half the garage floor.!!!!! (it is just to humid now). Larry also put in another new light in the basement---is putting in a new light...I am not sure why...so you can see better....
I guess I am going to fix some sandwiches for supper; crochet awhile and see if Jan joins me this evening....on the computer...
Catch you later....
